To make sure your product is an authentic Steampunk inspired piece: take some time to look at some truly awful examples of "Steampunk" projects helpfully compiled from the folks over at Regretsy (a satirical take on the website Etsy).
Once you've had a good chuckle, lets get analytical!

Collect some samples both good and bad and compare them against your design
